I am continuing my research on the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) and the Chicago Public Transportation find out the reasons that it seems the bus and train schedules do not run as frequent as the public needs them to. Chicago has many commuters who rely on the city’s transportation systems to get to and from their destinations. In some cases, the city has horrible weather patterns with wind, snow, rain, etc. People sometimes have to leave their homes early just to get to a bus/train on time.

This would interest anyone who relies on the CTA or any form of Chicago public transportation. There are many people who take the trains and buses to work/school on an every day basis. This would be a high priority for the city because everyone does take some form of transportation, other than automobiles. The City of Chicago data base website would most likely keep this at a high end because it seems to be something that the public would be interested in and useful to read about.

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has a website that has different links regarding news and information, riding the CTA, travel information, etc. On the right side of this site’s screen are where the quick links are located. They have schedules, maps, alerts, transit tracking system, etc.

The CTA Bus Tracker and CTA Train Tracker programs were awarded the Illinois Technology Association’s 12th Annual CityLIGHTS Award in the Best Strategic Use of Technology category. The announcement was made at the ITA CityLIGHTS Gala May 12. CTA Bus Tracker and Train Tracker provide estimated arrival times for nearly 12,000 bus stops along 140 routes and all 144 stations across eight rail lines respectively. In order to be considered, CTA needed to be a top competitor in its industry. CTA also had to demonstrate how well the particular technology solution was incorporated into the operations of a non-technology business and how this technology stands out within the transit industry.

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA services) operates the nation’s second largest public transportation system. It is a regional transit system that serves the City of Chicago and 40 neighboring communities. CTA provides 1.64 million rides on an average weekday, accounting for over 80% of all transit trips taken in the six-county Chicago metropolitan region. The CTA service is provided by two modes: bus and rail.In addition to CTA, regional transit services are also provided by our sister agencies, Metra and Pace, both of which connect with CTA bus and rail in numerous locations. You can read more about regional and national services that connect with CTA in our page about Connecting Services.
